Some of his special features:

• Ardrossan's pedigree includes some of the most famous names in Australian alpaca history - Purrumbete Highlander (twice), Purrumbete Ice Star, Purrumbete Brigantine, Purrumbete Maid of the Mist,  ILR NWA Ltd El Sol and Windsong Valley Iceman
• His sire is the only Australian alpaca to win not only 2 Australian National Supreme Championships but 2 Australian National Supreme Championship Fleeces
• His dam, Flowerdale Arenaria, was identified by Dr Jim Watts, our herd advisor, as suitable for use in our ET program as an elite donor due to her density and ability to pass this trait on
• Ardrossan too was classed by Dr Watts as a Recommended Male suitable for use in an SRS Breeding Program
• His folicle density came in at a level that puts him in first place as the densest animal so far measured in our herd at 61.4 folicles per sq mm. That is 50% denser than current industry benchmarks for good fleeced alpacas. His Secondary to Primary folicle ratio is also much higher at 12.7
• The fleece pictured at right shows his fast-growing, long fibres that are very well aligned forming into distinct bundles. This fleece won Champion Commercial Fleece at the 2007 Royal Canberra Show
